  • Landlord and Tenant – Loewinger & Brand, PLLC is the pre-eminent firm in the practice of both commercial and residential landlord and tenant law in the District of Columbia. We wrote the book on L&T law in DC! Leading principal, Kenneth J. Loewinger, is the author of the definitive text on Landlord and Tenant law in DC – a book designed for attorneys, property management companies and landlords -- Loewinger on DC Landlord and Tenant Law. Originally published by the Michie Company, the book was released for its second printing in February 2000 and is now sold by the Bar Association of the District of Columbia, or may be ordered directly at http://www.badc.org/html/pub.htm. It is also provided to judges in the Landlord and Tenant Branch of the DC Superior Court as a basic L&T resource.

The firm maintains a daily presence at DC Landlord and Tenant Court. If a tenant walks into L&T court without prior notice, the chances are that a Loewinger & Brand lawyer will be there. Even if the firm’s business is done for the day, the firm’s offices, at 471 H Street, NW, are only a few blocks away, so that a lawyer can be dispatched to court almost immediately.

Our impaired charges are routinely visited in their hospital or nursing home by our attorneys. One of our attorneys “adopted” the cat which had lived for years with one of our clients when the client had to move to a nursing home. The attorney frequently takes the cat to visit the client in the nursing home.
